Starting on Monday, December 9th, 2024, our Seoul Winter Camp offers the perfect chance to study Korean while enjoying the dynamic atmosphere of this city in winter.

From walking through snow-dusted streets to ice skating in Olympic Park or skiing, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.

There are few places better to experience Korean culture than South Korea’s vast and historical capital city.

Students will have lessons every morning from Monday to Friday, and enjoy lunch together every day.

During the afternoon, we take your kids on memorable adventures throughout Seoul. This includes partaking in cultural activities like traditional Korean calligraphy and taekwondo.

Every Saturday, we go on day trips to iconic sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace and Namsan Tower. We’ll also go ice skating at the famous Olympic Park.

ACCOMMODATION AT LTL

Students taking part in the LTL Seoul Winter Camp have two options for accommodation: the homestay camp or the residence camp.

Choosing a Korean homestay means living with a local family, allowing your child to experience Korean home life and delve deeper into local culture, whilst also practicing language skills as much as possible.

The residence camp allows students to live together with other winter program participants in shared rooms.

Children can either join for the whole day or half a day. We recommend they stay with one of our homestays to experience greater immersion.

FAQs FOR PARENTS

What is the weather like in Seoul during the winter?

In Seoul, winter is cold, with average temperatures ranging from -6°C (21°F) to 3°C (37°F).

Snowfall is common, though not heavy, and the city experiences clear, dry conditions.

Wind chill can make it feel even colder, especially during January. Indoor heating is essential, and we recommend you dress in layers to stay warm when outdoors.

What happens if my child gets sick during camp?

There are very good international medical facilities available in Seoul.

Doctors speak English amongst a lot of other languages too. The service quality is very high. 

Prices are not cheap though, so please make sure your child is insured. 

We will accompany your child to the hospital, in case of an emergency at any time of the day/night needed.

Can I set rules for my child during the winter camp?

Yes, you can.

Before your child comes to our Seoul Winter Camp, you will fill out our parent questionnaire where you can define rules for your child during their time there.

Why do under-18s stay with homestay families?

Our homestay families are great with teenagers. 

They look after their host children very well and provide not only a safe but also a comfortable environment at home that allows your child to explore from a safe home base. 

They also provide supervision and help with enforcing the rules you set for your child.

Is Seoul a safe city for my child?

Seoul is extremely safe for all our students.

he city has a low crime rate, efficient public transportation, and a strong police presence.

English is however not widely spoken in Seoul, so make sure your child has a phone with data to use a translator when necessary.

Who do I contact if there are problems?

During the program, your child’s guardian is always your first point of contact. 

If your child does not have a guardian program, please contact your student advisor. 

In case of emergencies, we are contactable 24/7. For non-urgent questions, you will have a reply by the next working day.

Can we go ice skating and skiing in Seoul?

Of course!

You’ll partake in a whole host of wonderful winter activities in Seoul.

What clothes should be prepared for the winter camp?

Be prepared to wrap up!

Seoul gets cold, it’s not to be messed with.

Lots of layers, gloves, hats, scarves and the like should be packed.

Do you celebrate Christmas?

Of course!

We’ll have a number of Christmas-based activities.

Should I buy health insurance for my child?

Yes absolutely. 

Please make sure it covers international clinics and hospitals in South Korea.

Can siblings and friends come together?

Absolutely yes.

We even offer a 5% discount for any winter camp participants who sign up together.

Can parents participate in the winter camp in Korea?

Yes, parents can accompany their children to the Winter Camp and either take a language course independently, share accommodation with their child, or take a break and explore.
